Israeli Air Force Retaliates in Lebanon

The first time in seven years the Israeli air force has carried out attacks in neighboring Lebanon.The Israeli Defense Forces have responded to the rocket attacks for two consecutive days.

The Israeli air force wrote in a tweet on Thursday that "rockets were fired from Lebanon into Israeli territory this morning." These rockets were fired.

Israeli Air Force Fighters 

The Israeli air force continues to target Hamas fighters in Gaza.While Israeli jets have also attacked suspected pro-Iranian fighters active in Syria during the Syrian civil war.

However, for the first time since 2014, the Israeli air force has launched an operation in Lebanon.Lebanon's Al-Manar television reported that the Israeli air force carried out two attacks on the outskirts of the city of Muhammadiyah. 

The television station, which is sponsored by Lebanon's powerful Shiite militant group Hezbollah, said the attacks took place at 9:15 pm local time.Lebanon's state news agency also confirmed the attacks but did not provide further details.

Rocket attacks on Israel from Lebanese territory

The Israeli forces carried out the attacks in Lebanon at a time when rockets had been fired at Israel from Lebanese territory for the past two days.Three rockets were fired on Wednesday, two of which landed on Israeli soil.The Israeli Defense Forces responded with shelling.

Northern Border Security 

Israel has repeatedly warned that the security of the northern borders will not be compromised due to the political crisis in Lebanon.Israel has said it will hold the Beirut government responsible for the attacks from Lebanese territory and will retaliate if any attempts are made to harm Israelis in the future.

UN Peace Mission 

Meanwhile, the UN peace keeping mission, which has been monitoring Lebanon and Israel's northern borders since 1978, has called on all sides to exercise restraint.International troops involved in the peace keeping mission have been patrolling the border to ensure a ceasefire since the catastrophic conflict between Israel and Lebanon in 2006.
