German Parliamentary Elections, Voting Enters Final Stages

Germany, Europe's largest economy, is holding parliamentary elections today.Chancellor Angela Merkel's 16-year rule.As well as a chapter in German politics, is coming to an end.

 Voting for Germany's parliamentary elections continues on Sunday.Voting begins at 8 a.m. local time and will continue until 6 p.m.Voting is underway at about 88,000 polling stations across the country and 650,000 volunteers are serving at these stations.

How much parties participate in election

Forty-seven parties are participating in the election this time.In order to be represented in parliament, any party must have at least five percent public support.The 60.4 million people are eligible to vote in this election.

How does the German electoral system work?

The German electoral system works in a slightly different way.

Today, the chancellor will not be directly elected, but voters will elect members of parliament. Each voter can cast two votes.The first vote is for the election of the district representative.This ensures that one or another member of parliament from every district and region of the country must reach out.

There are a total of 299 electoral districts in Germany.Then the second vote is cast for a political party, which forms a bund tag or parliament.
