WhatsApp Hack: Phone numbers of 50 crore WhatsApp users were leaked

According to CyberNews, the dataset allegedly includes data from WhatsApp users from 84 countries, with the website saying "someone is allegedly selling the updated mobile phone numbers of nearly 500 million WhatsApp users."

Cyber ​​News has also confirmed this after reviewing a sample of the data obtained.

On November 16, a hacker published an advertisement on a popular hacking community forum, claiming to be selling a 2022 database of mobile numbers of 487 million WhatsApp users, the report said.

The account that put the data up for sale claims to have the data of 3.2 million US users, including one million Russian and more than 1.1 million UK numbers.

It includes the data of 4.5 million users in Egypt, 3.5 million in Italy, 2.9 million in Saudi Arabia, 2 million in France and 2 million in Turkey.

The person selling the data told Cyber ​​News that they are selling US data sets for $7,000, UK data for $2,500 and German data for $2,000.

The website advises WhatsApp users to be wary of calls and messages from unknown numbers.
