The United Nations is moving some of its staff from Afghanistan to Kazakhstan

Web Desk - A group of UN staff is leaving Kabul today for Almaty, Kazakhstan, from where they will continue to perform their duties.

Kazakh Government

A UN statement thanked the Kazakh government for allowing the temporary office of the United Nations Assistance Mission in Afghanistan (UNAMA).

UN Secretary General

The statement said that as stated by the UN Secretary General on August 16.The UN presence in Afghanistan would be in line with the security situation.It has now been decided to evacuate the staff from Afghanistan due to security and other obstacles in Kabul and other parts.

UN Staff & Families 

Despite the presence of staff in another country, support for UN staff and families in Afghanistan will continue.As the majority of humanitarian aid personnel are still in Afghanistan.This is a temporary arrangement to continue the relief work.
