Pakistan: 6.4 Magnitude Earth Quake Shakes Most Parts of the Country including Islamabad

Severe tremors have been felt in different parts of Pakistan.The tremors were felt in Islamabad, Sindh, Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.

Pakistan Meteorological Department:

According to the Pakistan Meteorological Department, the quake measured 6.4 on the Richter scale with a depth of 80 km and was centered in the mountains of central Tajikistan.

People came out of their houses reciting the Kalima Tayyaba.There are reports of cracks and broken glass in houses in some areas.No casualties have been reported so far.

The quake affected several nearby cities including Gilgit-Baltistan, Muzaffarabad and some parts of Azad Kashmir.The quake affected Quetta and other districts in Balochistan.

Due to the strong tremors of the earthquake, people came out of their houses in fear, rescue teams were alerted.

 US Geological Survey:

According to the US Geological Survey, the quake measured 5.9 on the Richter scale in the mountainous regions of Pakistan, Afghanistan, China and Tajikistan.

People in Murree and other northern tourist areas came out of hotels in fear.
