New social media rules in Pakistan

New social media rules developed by the Ministry of Information Technology (IT) have been implemented in Pakistan.

According to details, the Ministry of IT has issued new social media rules on the website which have been implemented immediately.

The notification of new social media rules was issued by the Ministry of IT a few days ago but despite the notification.The ministry did not make the social media rules public.

The new social media rules rename online Harm to Person roles as Removal and Blocking in-line online content.

According to the new rules, misinformation about Islam, defense of Pakistan, public order, and pornographic material will be banned. Social media companies will be obliged to remove content that is against the dignity, security and defense of Pakistan.

All companies, including YouTube, Facebook, Tiktok, Twitter and Google Plus, will abide by the rules.Social media companies with more than 500,000 users are required to register with the PTA.

After the implementation of the rules.Social media companies will be required to set up offices in Pakistan in 9 months.Social media companies will appoint focal persons for coordination within 3 months of the implementation of the rules.

According to the rules, social media companies will set up database servers in 18 months.

Live video of extremism, terrorism, hate speech, pornography and violence will be banned.Content against religion, blasphemy, government orders will also be banned.

Social media companies or service providers will create community guidelines.The guidelines will inform users about uploading content.

No negative content related to another person will be uploaded.Content affecting the privacy of others will also be banned.

Content against religion and cultural and moral trends of Pakistan will be banned.All kinds of material that affects children will also be banned.

Copies of a person's personality, defense agencies and anti-Defense Pakistan material were also banned.Sectarian violence, hateful material will also be banned.

Social media companies will provide contact information by appointing grievance officers on forums.Social media forums and service providers will create live video, online mechanisms.
