Merz Defends Israel’s Strike on Iran
"The regime of the mullahs of Iran has brought death and destruction to the world," the German Chancellor stressed. German Chancellor Friedrich Merz did not mince his words during an interview he gave to the German news network ZDF, on the sidelines of the G7 Summit, about the course of the war between Israel and Iran. " Israel does the dirty work for all of us," said Friedrich Merz, commenting on Israel's devastating strikes against Iran's military installations and nuclear infrastructure.
Merz argued that "Germany is influenced by the regime of the mullahs of Iran, which has brought death and destruction to the world ," and continued by saying, "That's why I can only say that I have the greatest respect for the fact that the Israeli army and the Israeli government had the courage to do this."
" If Tehran were willing to return to the negotiating table , then there would be no need for further military operations by Israel ," he further emphasized.
But then he clarified: " If he doesn't, then the complete destruction of Iran's nuclear program may be on the agenda ."
In fact, he clarified that the Israeli army obviously cannot do it alone, because it does not have the necessary weapons "which the Americans do, however," as reported by ZDF .
