Kabul: Rocket attacks near presidential palace during Eid prayers

Rockets were fired during Eid prayers near the presidential palace in the Afghan capital, Kabul.

Reuters news agency quoted Afghan officials and the media as saying that it was not yet known who was behind the rocket attacks on Tuesday morning.

It should be noted that the Presidential Palace of Afghanistan has been the target of rocket attacks several times before.The last rocket attack on the presidential palace took place in December last year, according to AFP.

"The rockets landed at three different locations in the green zone outside the palace and no casualties have been reported so far," said Mirwais Stanekzai.A spokesman for the Afghan Interior Ministry.Our team is investigating the attack.

Afghan TV Channels Reported 

According to Afghan TV channels, the rocket attack took place while President Ashraf Ghani was offering Eid-ul-Adha prayers in a greenery of the palace along with other important government figures.

After the rocket landed, explosions were heard but prayers continued.After that, President Ashraf Ghani delivered a speech which was broadcast on local media.

It is to be noted that after the rapid withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan.Clashes between the Taliban and government forces in various provinces have created an atmosphere of uncertainty.In recent days, the Taliban have claimed control of several districts and border crossings.

Taliban fighters 

Unlike previous years, the Taliban did not declare a ceasefire on Eid al-Adha this year.

On Monday, NATO representatives and 15 diplomatic missions in Afghanistan called for an end to aggression against the Taliban.
