Paris: The move against Google comes after it failed to resolve a copyright dispute with French publishing houses. The technology company has been ordered to pay a hefty fine of 500 million euros for violating the law.

It is believed that Anti-Trust Watch France had ordered Google officials to take immediate steps to resolve the copyright dispute with the country's news publishers.

However, Google failed to comply with the order and was fined hundreds of millions of dollars by a French competitor.

With the fine, the French competitor has ordered Google to pay up to  900,000 rupees per day if it fails to pay new agencies and publishers within the next two months.

Responding to the fine

Google officials said that although the fine imposed by the French competitor was very sad and disappointing, it would be paid soon.

Technology giant Google has said it will seek feedback from the French Competition Authority. On this issue, we will consider our offer to be consistent and our goal will remain the same.

Google was fined 220 million in June this year for misusing its advertising policy.
