More than 5,000 people were detained before a protest rally in the capital, Moscow and in St. Petersburg.

Moscow Police:

Prior to the protests, Moscow police had announced the closure of seven metro stations and restricted the movement of pedestrians to the city center.

Authorities ordered the closure of several shops and restaurants.While traffic in the city center was diverted to alternative routes.The protests have been going on since Navalny's recent arrest on his return from Russia to Germany.
